Tricom's vFTDs, or Virtual FTDs, feature the same high-fidelity simulations in our fully tactile based FTDs. However, they deliver this fidelity in a lower cost, yet highly upgradeable, virtual cockpit. A cockpit featuring powerful and fully-interactive, 2D representations of cockpit displays, panels and controls.
Tricom's vFTD enables the customer to provide highly focused, fully-freeplay training in a virtual cockpit environment. The product is configured for close replication of a specific cockpit layout. The freeplay simulations included are highly configurable to meet the customer's specific training needs and objectives. A summary of the key features includes,
Fully-freeplay interactivity Realistic real-time predictions An easily updated, customer-specific navigational database Customized to a specific customer tail number and configuration Highly reconfigurable and customizable Easily upgraded to include tactile hardware
Tricom's vFTD product is easily configured to include Tricom-built, high-fidelity tactile hardware closely replicating real aircraft components. Virtually any component can be replicated by Tricom for use on its vFTDs, including these most common tactile devices,
Airbus FCU with EFIS control Airbus MCDU Airbus ECAM control panel Boeing MCP with EFIS/EICAS control Boeing CDU FANS DCDU Throttle levers Flaps/Gear/Speedbrake levers Systems sub-panels
As in the typical Tricom-built FTDs, our vFTDs are cockpit specific, but vFTDs can also be easily software re-configured to represent multiple aircraft on the single vFTD.
Tricom vFTDs are well suited for budget limited applications requiring the high-fidelity of a complete Tricom FTD solution and an easy upgrade path to full-scale, tactile-based FTDs for the future, as budget permits. The flagship vFTD product was produced for South African Airways simulating its Airbus A340-300 and 600 aircraft complete with fully integrated FMGS, FANS, autoflight, EFIS and ECAM simulations. It included high-fidelity FCU and DCDU tactile devices, a complete 2D overhead panel and forty (40) systems-level malfunctions, all contained on a spatially correct virtual cockpit layout. The same vFTD has since been upgraded to also replicate the A319/320 model aircraft incorporating the latest FM2 FMS update.
The product includes a powerful, and user-friendly coursware authoring toolset called EZ-Author. This toolset comes standard with all Tricom products and was specifically designed to take full advantage of the wide array of training and instructionally-focused features standard in all Tricom freeplay simulations.
Tricom's EZ-Author toolset enables you to quickly author highly effective, simulation-based coursware, tutorial and help. In addition, courseware content created using EZ-Author can be delivered across a LAN, over the internet or via CD/DVD distribution. |
